An eight week, thirty two hour course, that is aimed at teachers who have already followed a certificate course or who have substantial experience. The teaching situations and interests are catered for in the course programme.

Specific areas covered included:

• motivations, roles, styles, strategies and autonomy of both the learner and the teacher.
• developing skills through sub-skills.
• creative planning and materials.
• focussing on languages.
• teaching the corporate client.
• practical phonology.
• course and student evaluation.

The Pre-Diploma course is a taster of the actual Diploma course. It allows participants to assess where they are at present with their teaching and it offers routes to take towards continued development. As the course is not externally assessed it offers teachers that chance to talk with other teachers about day to day teaching matters in a relaxed supportive environment.

A pre-course book list is given together with some initial tasks. During the course optional reading and homework tasks are given.
